3,000 Mangrove Trees have been Planted in Kep Province to Celebrate International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem
Kep Province, One Fraternity Co., Ltd. organized the 3rd year of large-scale mangrove planting event in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Kep Provincial Administration. This event took place on the morning of July 26, 2022, in the fishing community at Phum Thmey, Sangkat Prey Thom, Kep Province, to promote sustainability and environmental awareness with the Celebration of International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem 2022. This event is a message to cultivate citizens to love the environment and participate in conserving natural resources even more.
On this special occasion, we have the participation of His Excellency Neth Pheaktra, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Environment, the representative of His Excellency the Minister of Environment; His Excellency Som Piseth, Governor of Kep Province; and Mister/Missus Directors, Deputy Director of Departments around the province, government officials, Vital staff and hundreds of fishing community members.
The Mangrove Planting Event is part of Vital’s Corporate Social Responsibility project under the 25 Riel Foundation. It gives back to society and contributes to developing a greener Cambodia for the present and future generations in line with the theme “Mangrove Trees Promote the Fresh Source of Nature.”
Lok Chum Teav Cheoung Sokuntheavy, Executive Director of One Fraternity Co., Ltd., stated, “Vital 25 Riel Foundation is proud to be continuously admired by the Ministry of Environment for doing such impactful to the environment. It is the third year of larger-scale to plant mangrove trees to protect and restore coastal ecosystems in Cambodia. As you know, mangrove ecosystems are being destroyed by human activities and causing a harmful problem for humanity and biodiversity. Protecting and restoring these ecosystems are significant. We can start today through mangrove reforestation activities for the better future of Cambodia.
As stated at the event, His Excellency Neth Pheaktra, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Environment and the representative of His Excellency the Minister of Environment, remarked highly to One Fraternity Co., Ltd. (Vital) that always participates in conserving mangrove trees in Cambodia. He added that planting mangrove trees on the occasion of celebrating the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem 2022 is not only to create greenery along the coast but also to create biodiversity and marine ecosystems and to encourage the public to love the environment by protecting the natural resources.
His Excellency Som Piseth, Governor of Kep Province, appreciated Vital’s initiative and for selecting Kep to do this project. At the same time, His Excellency also encouraged every organization and the public to continuously participate in planting more mangrove trees to ensure a good environment and enhance sustainability. He added that the provincial authorities have been paying close attention to the environment and conservation of natural resources to prevent climate change, floods, and other natural disasters.
It should be noted that Vital started this project in 2020 and had planted 2,000 trees already in Trapeang Sangke and Prek Tnaot fishing communities in Kampot province. As proved above, Vital received the Global CSR Award from Singapore for its philanthropic work.
